You can find information about the resort at the resort website, including details about its arena, and directions.
Our satellite facility in Midland, used for those who cannot readily get to our Nottawasaga facility, is at the North Simcoe Sports and Recreation Centre.
You can find information about the centre at the Town of Midland website.
Note that, unlike our Nottawasaga facility, the Midland facility lacks a treadmill.
In addition to our three junior/prospects training camps, the Ontario Lightning is offering 3 specialty camps designed to address specific skill sets according to position. These camps are very high tempo and require AA-AAA skill level:
These camps will be run out of our pro facility at the Nottawasaga Resort in Alliston, Ontario.

Each camp is 4 hours on ice daily with the morning and afternoon sessions dedicated to specific aspects of each camp. Also, with power skating performed on our state of the art skating treadmill, and off ice conditioning done by our team of human performance specialists, these camps are the perfect fit for any player that wants to elevate his game to the next level. We will be teaching and applying tried and tested concepts that professionals use. Our highly qualified staff will also use video tools to show players how and where breakdowns occur and how to capitalize offensively on these mistakes. We believe our advanced Ontario Lightning Hockey Camps can only make better players and enhance their chances to succeed.

This camp has been designed specifically with the defenseman in mind. Skating drills — designed to target increased foot speed and transition, defensive gap control, puck handling while backward skating, and defensive positioning — are but a few of the areas that will be addressed during this week long camp.
Working in small groups of 5 players, defensemen will be exposed to different stations daily, emphasizing the individual skill sets necessary to play this difficult position. Individual stations will have qualified instructors overseeing development, and each player receives individual attention and correction.
This camp is 4 hours on ice daily, with the morning sessions devoted to the skills aspect of defensive play, and afternoon sessions covering positioning and situational concepts such as defensive zone coverage, body position, and what the defenseman’s role is in 1 on 1, 2 on 1, and 3 on 2 situations. We will teach your players how to play defense.
With power skating performed on our state of the art skating treadmill, and off ice conditioning done by our team of human performance specialists, this camp is a perfect fit for any defenseman who wants to improve all parts of their defensive game.
This camp has been designed specifically with the shooter in mind. In this camp we will cover all shots, form slap shots to backhands, and will teach the shooter proper technique and allow for them to practice these techniques in a small group setting.
Players will be divided into groups of 5 and will be exposed to different stations daily, all designed with game situations in mind. We will be teaching players everything from stationary shooting, shooting off the pass, how to change the goaltenders position to maximize the opportunity to score, and one timers from all angles.
This camp is 4 hours on ice daily, with morning sessions devoted to technique and execution of all shots. The afternoon session will emphasize positioning, how to let go of the puck quickly and accurately, and how to find the soft spots in the offensive zone and where the best places on the ice are to score.
Our highly qualified staff will also examine each players stick and make suggestions as to how to adjust the height, curvature, and lie angles to make them a better shooter.
With power skating performed on our state of the art skating treadmill, and off ice conditioning done by our team of human performance specialists, this camp is a great fit for any players who wants to improve all aspects of their offensive game.
This camp has been designed with both offensive and defensive players in mind. The camp’s focus will be on the skills and tactics, both offensively and defensively, that are most effective in the game of hockey.
With 12 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 2 goalies, players will be divided into units of 5 and will stay with that unit for the entire camp.
With 4 hours on ice daily, morning sessions will emphasize passing and execution within a 5 man unit. The main focus of this session will be breaking out of the zone, neutral ice regrouping, and various strategies leaving and entering the offensive and defensive zone.
Afternoon sessions will focus on power play execution, penalty killing concepts, and controlled scrimmages that will correct mistakes as they happen.
If your player is interested in learning the tactics necessary to play the game of hockey at an advanced level, then this camp is for him. We will be teaching and applying tried and tested concepts that professionals use. Our highly qualified staff will also use video tools to show players how and where breakdowns occur defensively, and how to capitalize offensively on these mistakes.
There are three 5-day camps:
They have been designed with advanced AAA and Junior players in mind. Combined with tactical and skills development on the ice, the Skating Treadmill Program will also be part of the camp. This will ensure these elite players have a real jump on the upcoming season.
The Ontario Lightning Hockey Camp in our satellite Midland facility is a five day, high intensity camp for Novice to Minor Bantam Rep/AAA players. This camp succeeded the Reach For Your Dreams Camp which ran in 2004 and 2005 at the Mnjikaning Arena Sports Complex in Rama, and which ran in 2006 in Midland. While highly successful at Rama, it was decided to move the camp to Midland to be in a more central location for our players.

In our first year of operation in Midland we filled the camp and received very favourable reviews from those attending the camp.
The camp is aimed at advanced AAA and Rep players. Although the players at the Midland Camp are not old enough to attend the Ontario Lightning Camps at our Nottawasaga Inn facility, the program has been set up to improve the skills of the players so that they will be able to attend those camps when they are older.
The Midland Camp was established with many objectives in mind, but we focus on the basic skills of hockey: skating, passing, shooting, and checking. Players without these skills will have a very hard time advancing to higher levels of hockey. We do deal with tactical skills, but we concentrate on the basics.
We are an all day camp, with two 90 minute on-ice sessions, a 90 minute gym session, and a 60 minute lecture. There is also a 60 minute lunch break. We have divided the 2008 program into two groups: (1) Novice to Minor Peewee, and (2) Major Peewee and Minor Bantam. After they progress beyond their Minor Bantam year they can move on to our Nottawasaga Camps from Bantam to Junior.
If your child is looking to improve their skills to take them to the next level, the Ontario Lightning Hockey Camp in Midland is the place for that player.
